The National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. The Business Week, USA has listed NID as one of the top 25 European & Asian programmes in the world. The institute functions as an autonomous body under the department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. NID has been declared ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the Act of Parliament, by virtue of the National Institute of Design Act 2014.
NID is recognised by the Dept. of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) under Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, as a scientific and industrial design research organisation.
NID has been a pioneer in industrial design education after Bauhaus and Ulm in Germany and is known for its pursuit of design excellence to make Designed in India, Made for the World a reality. NID's graduates have made a mark in key sectors of commerce, industry and social development by taking role of catalysts and through thought leadership.
NID Gandhinagar is situated in the city of Gandhinagar, in Gujarat. As part of expansion plan, NID has built a new postgraduate campus at Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat State. Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath laid the foundation stone for this campus and it consists of a jewellery and automobile design centre along with lifestyle accessory design, new media design, toy and game design, strategic design management, transportation and information design centres.
NID's R&D Campus at Bengaluru was set up as a joint initiative of and funding from the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India and was inaugurated in March 2006. R&D Campus commenced with two research intensive PG Programmes namely Design for Retail Experience and Design for Digital Experience, from the academic year 2007-2008. Currently five Master's programmes are offered from this campus. NID's Research & Development Campus addresses the immediate need for an exclusive Design Research centre in the country, by fostering the creative design spirit and sighting new opportunities and frontiers through NID's design acumen nurtured over the four decades of intense teaching-learning process.
All NID campuses are open to visitors throughout the year from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (apart from public holidays). NID 2020
NID Entrance Exam 2020 Application Form has been started. It is organised by National Institute of Design. This is a national level entrance exam conducted to enroll the eligible candidates into various UG and PG courses provided by the institute. Eligible candidates will get admission in B.Des/ GDPD and M.Des courses on the basis of scores obtained in the two phases of entrance test – prelims and mains. Admission will be provided to the candidates in various campuses of NID situated in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Kurukshetra, Vijayawada and Bangalore. DAT Mains will be held in two parts:
NID Entrance Exam 2020 Syllabus for written test will contain various questions from the topics – Creativity, Comprehension, Knowledge and Visualization,Drawing Skills, Memory Drawing, General Mental Ability, etc.
For Studio Test, the syllabus will contain various topics – 3D Modeling, Body Language, Observation Test, Portfolio making, Creative Thinking, etc.
NID 2019
NID 2019 is national level entrance exam conducted by National Institute of Design for various UG and PG design courses scheduled to take place in January 2019. All aspirants for NID DAT 2019 can fill application form online on the official website, i.e. www.nid.edu. The exam will be of 3 hours with subjective and objective type questions. NID DAT 2019 Application Form will be available tentatively from October 2018 in the online mode.
Candidates appearing for NID DAT get admission in NID Ahmedabad, NID Gujarat, NID Bangalore, NID Kurukshetra and NID Vijayawada (Diploma courses). After clearing NID DAT Prelims round, selected candidates will have to appear for Studio Test round and Personal Interview round.

NID 2019 Application Form is expected to be available from October 2019. Applicants need to visit the official website, i.e. www.nid.edu and register before proceeding to fill the application form. Upon successful registration, applicant’s login credentials will be sent via email to the registered email address and they must login with the same.
After filling in the details in the application form, candidates must upload their Applicant’s recent passport-size colour photograph as well as signature in JPG/JPEG format not exceeding 100 KB in memory size.
Candidates applying for the OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD categories are required to upload their valid Caste Certificate/Tribe Certificate/Disability Certificate respectively, issued by a competent authority. The certificate must be in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size. Overseas candidates need to upload the first and last pages of their valid passport, clearly showing all of their personal information. The document must be in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size.
After uploading the required documents, Application Fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or offline via demand draft. Category-wise Application fees for NID 2019 are tabulated below.

NID 2019 Result for UG and PG Programs will be announced on different dates. The Result will be available to download from the official website of NID. Once the results of DAT Prelims are announced, NID will release the provisional and final answer keys for the convenience of examinees.

Separate Cut Offs will be released for NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains exam. Only candidates who secure NID DAT Prelims cut-off scores are eligible to take part in the subsequent Studio Test and Interview round for NID admissions.
In case of M. Des admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of candidates shortlisted for DAT Mains, in each category and discipline is 5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective discipline.
In case of B. Des/GDPD admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of candidates shortlisted for DAT Mains in each category is 3.5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective discipline.
The score secured by the last candidate in the NID general merit list will be considered as the NID cut-off score. Separate cut-off scores will be released for each category of candidates in NID 2019. Expected NID 2019 Cut Off has been tabulated below.

NID 2019 Counselling is expected to be held in the first week of June 2019. Candidates featuring in the Final Merit List will be offered admission in NID on the basis of their placement in the said list. NID Counselling 2019 comprises three steps, namely:
Candidates must present all documents in originals as well as copies for document verification during the counseling process of NID Admission 2019. These documents must include all academic certificates up till the qualifying examination, birth certificate, documents in the specified format to support claims for reservation, Photo ID proofs etc.
In case the candidate fails to show up and present the required documents at the time of NID admission, the candidature is likely to be summarily cancelled. Once the provisional admission offer is issued, candidates need to present all documents uploaded earlier along with the Demand Draft towards the payment of Admission Fee, in person, at the specified campus as per schedule notified by the Admission Committee for confirmation of Admission
